Indiana’s updated school grading system uses attendance, test scores, coursework, and other measures to give schools an A–F grade. The measures vary by grade level. The state expects to release school grades in November.
Most of the information used comes from the previous school year. Graduation rates come from two years earlier. This means Peru’s upcoming grades will include data dating back to 2024.
The first grades will reflect information gathered before the state announced the new rules. By the third year, grades should give a clearer picture of schools’ progress under the new system.
Peru Community Schools is already working to improve attendance, strengthen college planning, and raise test scores. We are also working to meet the new requirements for career and technical education programs.
Families can help support their children’s success in several ways:
- Make attendance a priority. Aim for fewer than 10 missed school days each year.
- Help students prepare for state tests. A good night’s sleep and encouragement to give their best effort can help.
- Support reading at home. Encourage your child to read or spend time reading together.
