Guidance Counselor Job Application
FT/PT Status: Fulltime
Working Period: 185 days plus 15 additional guidance counselor days

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Master’s Degree in School Counseling or ability and desire to get Master’s Degree.
2. Indiana School Counseling/Services License or ability to obtain one.
3. Experience supporting completion of alternate diplomas preferred.
4. QPR Certification or Suicide Prevention Training preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Support students in the development of academic, career, personal, and social/emotional
goals
2. Assist in the administration of all standardized tests (ILEARN, PSAT, SAT, etc.) and interpret
results to parents and students.
3. Assist in the planning and coordination of career counseling, including 21st Century
Scholarship enrollment and benchmark monitoring through ScholarTrack.
4. Maintain student records and protect the confidentiality of records.
5. Assist with enrollment of new students including transcription of grades from previous
schools.
6. Assist students in selecting Graduation Pathways as they develop plans to attain their
goals for the future
7. Promote the educational success of struggling students.
8.Support students in course selections and collaborate with the guidance team on
implementation of the master schedule.
9. As appropriate, make referrals for mental health counseling services.
10. Perform other job-related duties pertaining to the positive, efficient, and effective operation
of the Guidance Department as assigned by the Head of Guidance and/or the principal.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Indiana Administration License (preferred)
- Previous employment in an educational athletic setting
- Previous experience as a high school varsity head coach

Nature and Scope of Position:
- Achieving academic excellence requires that our Junior/Senior High School Athletic Director communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and the community at large.
- The position of Athletic Director at Peru JSHS includes leadership growth coupled with the implementation of athletic programming K-12, athletic scheduling 7-12, ability to work in scheduling software, event management, management of student-athlete forms, consistent communication with athletic directors and administrators from other schools, ongoing participation in professional development, and communication with the IHSAA.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee a robust 7-12 athletic program with leadership, organization, and vision in mind.
- Lead and manage athletic department and associated staff including community volunteers towards achieving a collaborative and successful Peru athletic department.
- Work in and oversee the management of Eventlink (Scheduling Software).
- Support PJSHS student leadership by developing and implementing a student-athlete leadership program (i.e. – IHSAA leadership opportunities, ambassadors, other…)
- The selected candidate will work closely with the longtime successful Bengal Backers booster group.
- Oversee a robust and informative social media presence for the Peru Athletic Department.
- Oversee the Peru Athletic Department’s website page within the district’s new edlio website platform.
- The selected candidate will be required to be a member of the IIAAA and participate at some level in state Athletic Director meetings, conferences, webinars, and/or other events and functions.
- The Peru athletic director will be expected to build, maintain, and oversee an annual budget for his/her athletic department.
- The selected candidate will be expected to implement and oversee fundraisers as part of the athletic department’s overall goals and vision.
- The Peru J/S High School athletic director will strive to host various IHSAA post-season events at Peru HS as opportunities of this nature arise. (i.e. – sectionals, regionals, semi-states)
- Design, oversee, and manage an Athletic Council (Peru Coaches and Athletic Staff) in developing and growing various components of Peru’s athletic department.
- The Peru J/S High School athletic director will be expected to collaboratively design and build a long-range plan for the Peru Athletic Department that includes a multitude of factors such as facility planning, youth development, coaches’ development, and other programming areas.
- Assist the Peru administrative team in developing and maintaining an effective educational/athletic program consistent with State and Federal guidelines and the philosophy, policies, and goals of the School Board; meeting and conferring with students, parents, faculty and staff; developing alignment with other grade levels, maintaining records and files; preparing reports.
- Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school to support student growth.
- Maintain and model high standards of professionalism including behavior and dress.
- Participate in on-going professional development to develop and refine leadership skills.
- Serve with parents, faculty, and student groups, as requested, in advancing educational and athletic related activities and objectives.
- Assist in coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other school support services; help conduct safety inspections and safety drill practice activities as assigned.
- Perform related work as assigned by the principal and/or superintendent.
